A cold wind blew in this weekend. It was so warm and sunny Friday…. almost made you think it was summer. We had cake and coffee for Annika’s birthday on the porch – no coats. But it wasn’t summer…. and Saturday brought a cold wind, an October wind.
We set our hearts on this our life…. our comforts… our plans… and then a cold wind rolls in and upsets that neatly raked pile of leaves. And we think… this hard thing, this tragedy, this accident, this fill-in-the blank – these things happen to other people don’t they? And God once again reminds us that this world is not our home and His ways are higher than ours.
So the cold settles in, and a heaviness in the chest, but we look up to God and pray His care and love to shine down on us. Because it’s the only way to live, looking upward.
This past weekend my niece Juliet was diagnosed with leukemia. Please pray for her and her parents as she begins treatments.
