Front yard progress Part II

So now we reach the exciting part!  The front yard is actually done (except topsoil, grass seed and a few more shrubs etc.)  The past 7 1/2 years have been a loooong construction story of which I am glad to say I don’t remember all the details.

So here is the fun stuff…. big machines, lots of guys working… major progress in a matter of a month.  Sure goes fast when you don’t do it yourself! 🙂

We were glad that the reclaimed brick we used on the wall matched the reclaimed bick we had used earlier on the chimney.  We chose a bluestone blend cement paver from Cambridge for the patio to match the bluestone on the front step and on top of the wall.

Next came the driveway:

With the driveway and patio done it was time to set it all up and plant some flowers:

Of course the kids are enjoying the expanded biking surface 🙂

So we still need grass`and some more landscaping.  Over time bigger shrubs will give us a stronger feeling of enclosure and privacy on the patio.  Scott plans to build a pergola/arbor type entrance on top of the two brick pillars.  But for now we are enjoying our patio.  It’s great for coffee time and watching the kids play on the driveway.

So just another before and after shall we?

It got swallowed up by the new house;). Poor thing… I actually did really like our house when it was little…but with only two bedrooms and number three on the way we decided to add on.

We’d love to see it in person! It’s looks great! Realistically, our summer is beginning to get over-scheduled, so I’m not sure what’ll happen. Glad to see the pictures, though.
